CARRIE BRADSHAW
Today I started getting nostalgic about Sex and the City. Every now and then I put on an episode and just kickback, there is something so endlessly thrilling about each season. Even the first movie was rather exciting. Though, I’m still pretending the 2010 Sex and the City 2 never happened – even though the fashion was great. So I got to thinking that I would compile a list that best represented Carrie Bradshaw’s flawless style. Over the 6 year run of the show, it is no secret she became an icon. As we watched her fall in and out of love with Big, Berger, the Russian, Aidan, and all the men in between, she never did it without putting a Manolo footed-toe wrong. She wasn’t afraid to take risks with the men she loved, or the clothes she wore. And ever since Pat Fields and Carrie Bradshaw left the screens, sure we have Mad Men, Gossip Girl and many other series to show us great style, nothing will ever feel as authentic and fresh as Carrie Bradshaw. She was new, daring and beautiful. Any other show that tries to replicate New York in the transition from the 90s to the 00s will feel like a cheap carbon copy. Bradshaw is the REAL deal.

This outfit was worn for about a split second before it was destroyed when Carrie went head first into the pond with Big. But as nervous as she was, Carrie wanted to look every bit the Saturday luncher. Demure, pastel and pretty, but given an edge with the plastic mule. A perfect way to end Season 3 – which was easily the most tumultuous.

Another floral look. This time Carrie showed everyone that metallic belts can be worn with everything and at every angle. On her way back from shopping she accidentally bumps into a crush outside an AA meeting and looks every bit the style queen. Easily the standout look from Season 2.

A leather mini-dress, gold boots, and a OTT white flower, all topped off with that smoke. She looks great, even if she was dating a bisexual at the time. Season 3 saw Carrie experiment with the flower, and she never looked back!

Season 6 Carrie is broken up with by a post-it. Rather than sulk, she dresses in a flawless and well-designed dress, and hits the town with her ladies. The opening of a hot new club called Bed, where she accidentally bumps into Berger’s friends and unloads to them. At least she looks good!

Carrie lands in Paris wearing the outfit that had ‘waited a lifetime to be worn’. She looks radiant, glowing and very, very chic. Her time in Paris would be short lived, thank God, but her style never, ever faulted.

Those shoes, that coat, that dress! That date with Big that marked the ‘end of an era’!!! The most flawless episode of Sex and the City, wearing one of the most iconic looks. Wanting to look perfect for her last Big night out, Carrie went to painstaking lengths to choose the shoes, and the whole look. And doesn’t she look amazing.

That FUR COAT. Need I say more?

Everything about this outfit is so elegant, simple, but it leaves a lasting impact. The soft pink dress pants paired with the simple white top is sartorially flawless. Then the purple corsage and the Fendi bag, and it makes the look both idiosyncratic and iconic Carrie. This was what she wore to surprise Aidan for a second date, and it worked a treat. While not on a level of crazy as some of her other outfits, it does exactly what it needs to do. It showcases Carries personality and her enviable, editorial style.

I was hesitant to put this so far up the list, but I remember when she debuted this new haircut at her new position at Vogue, I had a jaw on the floor reaction. She looks prim, proper and edgy. If Carrie were to ever work in an office, this would be her look. And most of all, this look is utterly timeless. In 20 years from now, we will look back and it will still be wearable.

Pat Fields has gone on record saying that this is her fave look. Well it certainly is a knock out! In the hall books of fashion history this Versace dress has a place. Carrie is in Paris and she has been stood up for a date, all forlorn and nowhere to go, she just waits for her Russian who never shows. And how could he stand her up when she looks this good in the dress of a thousand layers.
